Me.I'm Sam Houston; a 16 year old from north London who has spent over half of my life in the small and boring East-Anglian city of Ely and attended Ely College from 2012-17.
My many interests include various forms of visual media, such as television, films, photography and video games. My favourite films include Silence of the Lambs, Forrest Gump and Pulp Fiction; I am also a massive lover of music and believe I have an extremely varied taste in music, however my most listened to genres are currently Indie and Grime. My largest interest (obsession) is football, the sport which forces most of my cash out of my pocket and leads to me to every end of England supporting my teams (Arsenal and Cambridge). |
Why I chose CTEC MediaI have always been interested in media and the manipulation of media, even from a young age. I can recall spending hours and hours on Doctor Who Trailer Maker when I was younger and photography is a hobby that I have enjoyed for many years but I never considered a career in media.
When I chose my subjects to take for GCSE in Year 9 I wanted to be a software designer, and this was my reasoning behind choosing Computing as one of my three subjects. When it came to finding out what Sixth Form to choose a year and a half down the line I had come to realise that Computing is extremely boring. During my taster days at Netherhall and Long Road it occurred to me that a job was a realistic prospect and it dawned on me that it would be the perfect career for me as I have been stuck to a computer since I was about 4 and I crave a career that allows me to be creative. Choosing CTEC Media at Netherhall over A-Level Media/Media studies at Long Road and Hills was not difficult, the CTEC seemed to be a very practical course (which is always more interesting), a more valued course and the teaching staff and facilities seemed to be a cut above. |
